In Jan/Feb 2013 I had done an online internship: I assisted Helena Norberg-Hodge and her team in organising for the Economics of Happiness Conference that took place in March-2013 in Byron Bay, Australia. Click here to see some amazing talks and sessions that happened there. The conference, and the work of its organizers (ISEC), revolves around promoting localization of economies, healthier and happier lives, ecological balance, social justice and many more themes.
What started out as some basic online help (and a lot of heart-to-heart conversations with Helena) over Skype / google docs / email, evolved to other things: I researched contacts of organizations across the world working in similar fields and collated them so they could be invited to the Conference. I created some posters in the run-up to the conference for sharing on facebook/social media and spreading the word. Sharing them here. I was able to create them using Powerpoint… no advanced designing software needed, no layers/morphing etc needed. And once a few were made I could keep making more, using copy-paste, in a very short time. See them here:
Further, I used the techniques I developed here to make even more posters… for Swaraj University, for myself and friends…
And most recently, for the Learning Societies unConference (LSuC) taking place near Pune from 14 to 19 June 2013 :
I also worked with the organizers to set up a website for the event (using weebly.com’s free website service), create an invite/brochure, create a map/layout of the venue and am helping with managing registrations, accommodation arrangement, etc using online collaboration tools like Google Drive.
Also, just started a crowdfunding page to assist Swaraj Uni Khojis in funding their participation at the LSuC.
